This two-book series provides carefully designed learning contexts and units to support teaching and learning about materials technology textiles. Textiles are an excellent medium for learning about materials because they are readily available, relatively cheap, and all students have daily experiences with them through clothing and household items. Each book contains three comprehensive units. The units are intended to increase students understanding about different kinds of textiles, colour, patterns and stitches, as well as learning about special techniques such as dyeing, knitting, weaving and appliqué. Safety issues are also covered.
